Serengeti National Park under critical threat?

This is worrying news for the Serengeti National Park. A proposed main highway through the Serengeti threatens to upset the areas ecosystem, according to 27 scientists essay in the systematic publication Nature. Some predictions suggest that, if the highway was to go ahead, the migrating wildebeest herds could dump from 1.3 million to as little as 300,000. Pressure is mounting for the highway to be built forward of national elections as it has the viewed mercantile benefit, linking the coast of Tanzania with Lake Victoria, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo.
