Founded in 1927 to house east coast talent working on the west coast, the Hollywood Roosevelt has been a star-magnet from day one. Celebrities like Will Rogers, Charlie Chaplain, and Greta Garbo were on hand for the hotels grand opening celebration and, soon after, the Roosevelt hosted the first-ever Academy Awards ceremony in May of 1929. Among its early star-studded guest list were Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, and Marilyn Monroe was a frequent patron of Cinegrill - a restaurant and cabaret nightclub that was popular with those in the limelight.Just as glamorous as ever, todays Roosevelt Hotel still attracts big names.
